Well this sucks...
One of my favorite radio stations just changed formats, and not for the better... They're going from modern rock to 90s and 80s. Oh please, there are like 4 or 5 of those stations in Columbus alone. 99.7 was the only station that played only new stuff. 80s and 90s rock is WAY too overplayed, and now it'* going to be overplayed even more... Oh well, one more reason to get XM
Oh, and they changed their name from "The Blitz" to "The Rock". How generic is that?

And it was the last new hard rock station in central Ohio. Stupid bastards...I wonder if they actually know just how much money they're gonna lose...I mean, now they're competing against like seven other stations, where they had ZERO competition in current hard rock.

yeah, they really shot themselves in the foot. Here'* something I found on their website...
“It seems as though rock listeners in Columbus have had to choose between stations that play either very old rock or, rock that is mostly new. 99.7 “The Rock” will bridge that gap with a mixture of music that begins in the 90’* and spreads its wings in both directions We think it’* a mixture that most rock listeners can agree on!”
Well I guess I'm not an average rock listener...
What I find funny is how they justify it. I can name 4 radio stations off the top of my head that are EXACTLY like "the rock". Brian, I'm gonna need that boombox back

You should live here.
We've got rap, the top 5 of the top 40 plus rap with unprofessional DJs that aren't afraid of "dead air", late 90s rock, and 12 country stations.
Whatever happened to good top 40 stations?

hmm. Salt Lake City has: X96 new rock / KBER old metal / 94.9 90s-new rock / and I think two other classic rock stations. Apparently the mormons like to rock There are two mix stations, but there are only two rap stations (thank god) and like 6 spanish stations (the invasion begins ). Every other position on the dial is country
I think we got all the bases covered here. They just can'* say *** or drugs or B* or even hell on the radio. Its funny cause they edit it out of all the music - i love this state :?

im a recent convert to Jack FM. their slogan is "playing what we want" and they do have a decent variety.. along with my usual 93X (mostly current rock) as well as K102 for some country.

Ehhh Peter, don't get too excited about XM. It too has WAYY too much of the same crap. Even its top 40 stations are really top 5s But I really prefer its variety over my local stations...which I can only find about 5 that I like...3 of which are really in usable range.
