I looked up my jeep, they don't have my motor listed for my year and they list a motor that was never even put into the jeep. I looked at 97, which does have the right motors listed but I am pretty sure they are showing the wrong original ratings for it. Oh well, jeeps don't get good mileage anyway.

Old EPA ratings: 17 mpg City, 29 mpg Highway, 21 Combined,
New EPA ratings: 16 mpg City, 26 mpg Highway 19 Combined

Me: Average right now, 20.8 mpg @ an average speed of approx. 38 mph
Best highway: 29.0 mpg

The old ratings sound alot better

For the Jetta the old ratings are closer.

Old 23 & 30
New 20 & 28
Real 23 & 32

The 23mpg that I average now is with nearly twice stock Hp and torque. I averaged 26 before I maxed out the stock injectors.

The 32 hwy was with a loaded roof rack climbing the southern Oregon mountain passes at 75+.
