Default FS: 1997 Grand Am v6

I have for sale a 1997 Grand Am 3.1 V6 4 door

The car has 297,XXX kms

what has been done recently:
(ALL OEM parts used)
-serpentine (drive) belt
-power steering pump seal
-power steering pulley
-3 coil packs (basically was just tuned up)
-spark plug wires
-spark plugs
-PCV valve
-oil pump drive seal
-rocker cover gaskets
-thermostat
-upper intake gasket
-lower intake gasket
-transmission gasket
-transmission filter
-fuel filter
-fuel pump

oil change done every 2k and oil was ran through the engine till clean oil poured out. Transmission fluid and coolant was also jsut changed.

The tires are in good condition. Firestone on the front with 70% tread left and some other all seasons on the back with 75% tread.

The front and rear brakes were just serviced. The front brakes have 50% pad life left. Rotors have never been machined.

The car is in excellent shape! No signs of rust underneath the car. The only rust on the body is on the driver door pillar (normal for these cars). The body has a few dings and nicks, otherwise in excellent condition. Interior is also very good. The drivers seat is a bit worn, but everything else is like brand new!

AC blows cold!! The heat works excellent too!

I jsut installed a new window motor on the passenger rear window, and there is still some duct tape stuck to the door as you can see in the pics. All windows work prefectly. The drivers window motor was jsut replaced recently as well.

Factory radio was replaced with a Panasonic CD player, remote included.
Stock factory speakers

The exhast was removed and installed were 2 resonators and the tip from an 04 grand prix. Car sounds very throaty and mean. Not lound unless you stomp on it.

The car starts every time and runs mint! No problems what so ever! Idles fine and pulls smoothly. The transmission does not slip and is very smooth.

This car has basically jsut had everything done to it and has been kept very well. I work for GM and have taken good care of the car. Car will be sold certified and E-tested.

See some issues here...

1. Front grills are gone(backseat?)

2. Engine bay is a disaster.

3. Mismatched tires(previous owner never had the money to replace all tires)

4. If the brakes were serviced, must have been at least a month or 2 ago. Or they were never touched due to the rust on the lug nuts.

5. Lots of corrosion on the alternator.

6. No hubcaps?

This car has basically jsut had everything done to it and has been kept very well.
Coming from a dealership, I find this hard to believe all this maintenance was done, and it still looks like ****. Interior and engine bay is not customer deliverable yet.

All the work that was done to it, I sure wouldn't trust it at all.

And it'* not worth $2300.

the grills are gone,,i installed a mesh and painted it black

i actually got the firestones for free so i tossed em on

i am a mechanic there and yes the car is in good shape..i have jsut done everything that goes wrong on these 3100 motors...the car has been sitting for about 2 weeks..i do not drive the car,,i have a 92 ssei...i can assure you the calipers were serviced..and the rear drums..yes the car needs a bit of a clean!

i have hubcabs but i like the car better without them

how is the engine bay a disaster?

also i am curious how much do you think it is worth?

Well, if your selling the car, it'* not what you think is better, its what the customer wants.
No hubcaps, dirty interior(and engine bay), mismatched tires tells me only one thing. This car was never taken care of.
No matter how much money, and labor you may have invested in this car, it will do nothing to increase the value.

Though you and your associates may be GM certified mechanics, I have seen botched work go unnoticed and slip back into the main stream.

In my opinion, this car is not worth $1000. I use to own a 95 GA and when I got rid of it, it didn't sell for what your asking here, and that'* with LESS miles.

the car was taken care for and i have the service records to prove it. parts purchase and gm scheduled maintenance on this vehicle, yes the car could use a vaccuum and a wax, i will even include a free beauty parlor on this vehicle if sold

yes and your car was a 1995, my car is a 1997 with basically everything done to the motor,,the upper and lower intake gaskets always go on the 3.1 so i took care of that, also i re-did all the seals when i was in there. If you actually had a chance to see the car in person and drive it I am sure that you would have a different opinion.

i have been honest with the work that was done on the car and have the service records, parts bills to prove it.

but none the less i thank you for your opinion

Sorry, I didn't mean to come in and bash your post here. Just wanted everyone to be aware of any potential problems that might exist.
