Default Need USB drivers for Dell Dimension 2400... Somewhat urgent

I need a USB driver that will work with a Dell Dimension 2400. I uninstalled the USB controller and restarted Windows so the controller would reinstall, but Windows can't find the driver. I installed the chipset driver on Dell'* support website, but it didn't help. I need the specific USB driver.

This is on an important computer at my flight school, and our dispatcher cannot print anything until the problem is fixed. If anyone can help quickly, please post!

Press Windows Button & Pause/Break to go to the System Properties (or right click on My Computer and choose Properties, but the other way is more fun.)
Choose Device Manager.
Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section
Right click and choose Properties of one that says something about PCI bridge (I forget the exact name and after you fix the problem, this item goes away. If you aren't sure, you try step 5 and 6 on all of the USB items in that list.)
Click on the Driver Tab (it'* kinda slow loading).
If the driver information on top says "Not found" or "Not installed" then click Update Driver... and let it look for the driver itself (I didn't need the XP CD but that might be because I keep a copy of it on my hard drive just incase. You might need it, I don't know.)
After it finds the driver, click Okay and USB should start working immediately - no reboots needed!

That'* the problem Travis... It can't find the driver! It'* like the driver got corrupted or something... it'* not there. I even put in one of the Dell "Windows Reinstallation" CDs, and it still couldn't find it. I need the specific USB driver for the Dimension 2400.

I may end up formatting the machine tomorrow, but otherwise I may try to locate a driver online. It has been a wild goose chase, though

You should be able to use the Intel INF Update Utility;

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...12150&lang=eng

Check the Readme file for instructions.

Edit: You can also download a Zip archive from Intel that contains all the USB drivers (inf and cat files);

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/down...ition&lang=eng

(You may need to manually copy the entire link above into the adress bar of your browser)

You can use these files to update the driver.

Cheers,
