OIL ON PLUGS
My buddy drives a saturn that has 1.9 liter 4 banger with dohc. When we pulled his plugs to change them two of them were covered in oil??? what would be causing this?

it means that the car is burning oil, which many saturns do, it could a few things including worn piston rings (smoke on acceleration) , and worn valve seals (smoke at startup)

His engine is not burning oil or smoking at all. The oil was on the top of the plugs and on the threads, but not on the tip that is in the combustion chamber...thats why i think that it might be the valve cover gasket

Can't see much, its only a four banger and the plugs go into a hole in the top of the vc...and its only in the hole that there is oil...Thats why i was thinking vcg but i wanted another opinion just in case i was missing something

Spark plug seal. Common problem on the DOHC 1.9. They are the seals that go between the valve cover and head, and leak overtime, leaking down into where the spark plugs are.
