I think all the icons on his desktop is the doom he is referring to.

Doom3 is 3 discs of creep, gorey goodness....
So far, everything is dimly lit or just all out dark, and the graphics are amazing. Your charachter has a raadio (he'* a Marine) so you hear all the other folks dying and screaming and whatnot, so it makes it kinda creepy and gets the adrenaline pumping...
