NASCAR News? Joe Gibbs Racing To Toyota?- UPDATE
Joe Gibbs Racing still hasn’t announced whether it will switch to
Toyotas
next year, but the buzz is that it will. Some clues? Tony Stewart’*
souvenir
trailers were selling merchandise at 50 percent off regular price last
week
at the Brickyard, Stewart’* home track and a place where the Hoosier
native
is wildly popular. -- Also, a source at Richard Childress Racing said
it has
been approached by Hall of Fame Racing, a satellite Gibbs team, about
buying
engines from the newly merged RCR-Dale Earnhardt Inc., engine operation
in
2008. Presumably, HOF is hedging its bets, if it ends up not being part
of a
Gibbs move to Toyota. ...Daily Headlines
Not to sure what to think about this. I do find it interesting.
Seems to be Gibbs has been fairly successful, Chevy is the team to beat, and Toyota, wel.....

Yeah, I just got my email today with all of the latest news. Well, I knew about Kyle Busch, but this Gibbs thing just makes no sense to me.
Also, how bout the idea of Budweiser going with Kasye Kahne? I don't get that either.

I have no problem with Toyota'* being manufactured here or them entering NASCAR, my problem is the financial power they're throwing around the garage. In time, with no limits, Toyota will have an unfair advantage.
They're not in NASCAR to compete. They're in NASCAR to make a point.

I'd be interested in seeing real, hard numbers on how much the manufacturers are spending. Nobody seems to know for sure, and probably there is no way to get all that info out of them. I'd take bets that GM is spending the most though, if only because of the number of teams they have. Toyota is probably right up there with them, and us poor Mopar boys are sucking the hind tit for sure.
I'm not going to be concerned until BMW wants to go the left-turn-only route.....

Expected to be in attendance are team drivers Tony Stewart and Denny

I didn't care for Toyota joining either, but im not overly ticked off about it either. But gibbs going to Toyota? lame...however reducing the Chevy'* on track, im all for that, i'd like to see more drivers in dodges or fords, seems like half of the field is a Chevy and the rest is split between ford & dodge and like 3 'yotas. someone tell Pontiac to get back in on this with the G8!

That would be sweet to see a G8 on the track. I could be wrong, maybe Wren knows more, but my understanding is that it was GM'* decision to pull Pontiac out of NASCAR.
