But a 1981 305 was probably rated at what, 200hp? maybe 220hp stock? (these numbers are generous) Add a hot cam and a low-cfm carb, and (we'll assume) a matching exhuast system (headers and such) and you would be doing well to get 50 hp. Add the 5000 lb+ weight of the truck, and there'* no way 12'* are possible, even assuming the typically crappy truck rear-end was upgraded/replaced.
I don't have any times for the 66. It hasn't ran since I got it.
It is not a 1981 305, it is a 1979 305 from a Caprice. It does have headers
and high flow exhaust. And it does not wieght 5000 lbs, it is stripped.
