Dex-cool jugs are tough?

Last year when I was cleaning up the garage I found three Havoline Dex-cool jugs sitting on concrete behind a large box. One jug was marked empty the other had an inch or two of used Dex the other jug had over a quart of unused Dex and was marked New. I took the small amount of used Dex and pored it down a rat hole on the edge of the property and put the jug back with the others.
Last month I needed gallon jugs to recycle the green antifreeze in my 75 Chevy truck. I picked up the two empty jugs and for some reason rinsed them out with the hosepipe. The jug marked empty rinsed out fine but the bottom blew of the jug that used to have old used Dex in it. So I go and check out the jug with the unused but old Dex in it and it is still solid.
Now I wonder what would have happened if I had rinsed out that jug a year ago?

Makes one wonder if that DEX had become acidic, and if that acid then attacked the plastic bottle (much like the theory that the acidic DEX attacks intake gaskets).

The bottle isn't the same material though. Probably a pp or pe, definitely not nylon.

I'm not surprised considering what I've found out in the last couple weeks.

Ran across this searching Google for Dex-cool.

“As long-lived as OAT-based antifreezes are, GM does not recommend using Dex-Cool in older vehicles with copper/brass radiators and high lead solder seams. The reason is that the additives in Dex-Cool can eat away at the solder, leading to premature radiator failure. There is also concern that it can erode water pump impellers that experience a lot of cavitations. (New GM engines have specially designed water pump impellers to minimize cavitations).”

There used to be a page that described what 2 EH was and why it did not belong in antifreeze but it is no longer there.
