Default My garage laptop...

took a dump today. Well, the power supply did. It'* an older laptop, AMD 1.2MHZ, good enough for forum stuff and whatever. So, instead of scouring the internet for a new power supply, I figure I would check the local pawn shops for a decent laptop.

After 2 computer stores and 1 pawn shop, I found a HP Pavillion G7, 17"display, 500gig HDD, 4G ram, Bluetooth, full size keyboard and a QUAD core processor for $180. Come to find out after checking HP'* website, this thing is STILL under the factory 1 year warranty. 8 days left anyway. But who cares? Still even had the stickers on it.

i love hp'*. sounds like a good deal. my laptop is company purchased they keep buying pos dells even though they break all the time and i cant do my job while its getting fixed. but to the fools that buy them no sweat if i have to cal them 3 times to do major surgery during the warranty period. i buy hp'* for my desktop and usually for the wife for laptops they always last without having to mess with them at all

Good luck I went through 3 HP laptops and a home PC in 5 years. Be careful with the hinge on the laptop, and the scenes like to go out and my wife'* power supply was replaced 4 times under warranty. I gave up on HP and bought an apple. The operating system took a little while to get used to but I like it way better.

My recommendations are Apple and HP (at least the business models; the home stuff is hit-or-miss). I've heard good things about newer Toshibas, too.

apple pcs are like apple phones, you pay twice as much for less features, and more proprietary design

I've heard of people doing that. Take an old 25" plasma, mount it on the wall, hook a small pc to it and turn it into a nice random picture.
