ELIZABETH, Colo. -- A Littleton teenager died Friday night after police say he attempted to flee from Elbert County authorities and rolled the stolen vehicle he was driving.
Nicholas J. Parrilli, 17, of Littleton, was ejected from the 2005 Ford Expedition he was driving.
A second teenager in the same car, Tara E. Chrisner, 17, of Elizabeth, Colo., was partially ejected from the rolling vehicle and was seriously injured.
The Colorado State Patrol said the neither teen was wearing a seat belt and the vehicle rolled eight times.
The crash happened at 6:46 p.m. at the intersection of Elbert County Road 13 and Elbert County Road 142 near Elizabeth, where authorities had placed a tire-deflating device in the road in an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle. Previously the chase reached speeds of 110 mph, authorities said.
According to the state patrol, Parrilli swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the device and lost control, rolling several times.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as contributing factors in the crash, according to the state patrol.
The chase started when Parrilli failed to stop for Elbert County authorities who recognized the Expedition as one that was stolen a short time earlier in the nearby Sun Country Meadows subdivision, deputies said.
The crash happened less than a mile from Elizabeth High School, where traffic was heavy with a large number of students arriving to attend the school’* choir concert, which was scheduled to start at 7p m

How terrible! I hate to hear things like this. So young. The insurance agent side of me comes out and I can't help but think that if they had on seatbelts they may have been injured but survived. I will keep all involved in my prayers.
Keep us posted on her condition.
