Default Computer Pros: BIOS Upgrading

I have an HP e-vectra and im using it for in my car temprarily (till i can save up the $500 to get the single board computer i want) I was wondering if anyone knows a way to get an aftermarket bios upgrade to unlock all the features or even make the POST/boot faster? its a stupid HP custom bios thats slow as heck and cant do a thing.

Any input (the cheaper the better )?

Is it possible that the Mobo is made by a main manufacturer and just badged different? Because if that is the case, you can just flash the BIOS and upgrade it to the most recent on that manufacturer'* website.

Yes, browse through the HP web site and they will give you the manufacturer of your BIOS.
After that, go to their web site and see if they have anything new. Other than that... the only upgrade you could do to make the Boot faster is to the RAM or the CPU itself.

Are there options for the POST? Some computers will essentially skip this now if you set it up to.

If you have an HP, your kinda screwed. They're the only company I can think of that'* worse than Compaq on making it impossible to dig inside your BIOS and whatnot.

I used to fix computers for a living, and as soon as I saw one of those two logos, I knew I was in for a heck of a fight.
