You sure have alot invested in blu-ray. I hope it manages to stick around. I learned my Sony lesson with Beta.

I'm with popatim. I don't want BluRay or HD DVD until I know which one "wins". I don't want another BetaMax or WORM Drive....

Mini-discs were a great idea. Nice convenient size. Too bad they never caught on

The problem with Mini-disc'* was that they were a SONY proprietary thing. Anyone else who wanted to create a mini-disc anything (player, organizer, disc...) had to pay Sony a royalty. Thats the same thing that happened with betamax and is happeneing again with blu-ray. Unfortunately the competing standard; HD Dvd, is cheaper ($12 royalties vs. $30 the last time Ilooked into this) I beleive the cheaper one will win in the end.

With the coming of players that can process both formats; I'm even more in a HOLD status than ever; not that I have a 1080p/1080i tv yet either and until you do its pointless.
