So our furnace decided to stop working last night. Of course its gotta break during the coldest part of winter. 10* outside and about 50* inside the house right now, i am COLD! I finally found my little space heater so at least where ever i am it will be warm :P

Stupid furnace.

does anyone here know anything about furnaces?
Because we really can't afford to have the furnace guy come out to the house, but it really needs to be fixed...

This is a gas burning furnace. I talked to my dad and he said it sounds like the "flame-sensor" is not working or dirty. Is there any way maybe i could clean the flame sensor? Or is that something i need to have a professional look at?

Flame sensor... Thermocouple?

Is this a a newer electronic furnace? If so, check the diagnostic codes. Look at the model, and find online how to do the diagnostics.

I am thinking thermocouple. They only cost a few bucks and can be installed in less then 30 minutes..... usually.

Cook some stuff in the oven. It'* surprising how much heat they put out.
