Wow, being a parent of a 12 yr old girl and a 17 yr old boy I feel for what you're going through. My boy is my focus right now. The girl seems ok for now. I'm trying to steer her away from the friends that seem a little to "sly" and get in trouble.
I would be sick if my daughter was doing what yours is.......I don't think I could handle it. I wish you all the best. I would say be firm but don't push her away even further.

You are getting some good advice here, especially from PMom (her and I are a lot alike). Rule with an iron fist! No cellphone, no driving, no computer, etc. Assign chores like scrubbing toilets, or all the things no one else wants to do. Have a long, serious talk about her little adventure and the consequences. Tell her you love her but she needs to straighten up and fly right. Then as she shows she is learning a lesson start giving back privileges. If you don't show her NOW- you've lost her. She will know she is able to run over you and your wife.
Good Luck!

My daughter is turning 14 in November, I thought I knew how to handle teenagers based upon how well my son is doing and how good his head seems to be screwed on but I am learning it'* a whole new set of rules when it comes to my daughter.
If I ever find myself in this position would letting them stay in the drunk tank over night help get a point across to them? Probably not.
