Default car and driver'* obsession with 4 cyclinder imports??

I'm not sure if anyone on here subscribes to car and driver(it is a car site though), but i in the last two or three issues the cover has featured 4 cylinder imports. This months is "Fourgasm" and the last one was "Four Bangers". It also seems more and more difficult to find any articles on domestic cars. Its starting to **** me off. Any other subscribers notice this?

I noticed that 4 years ago when I started my subscription. It is not that they don't like domestics, its that they don't like GM cars. Fords and Chryslers are great, GM cars are crappy, ugly, slow, underpowered, and overpriced. It is rediculous that they can't test out real cars. They are really obsessed with this new 4 cylinder ricer craze. And, if you didn't notice...not one of those cars was faster than 13 flat in the 1/4, and the FWD ones were a lot slower. C&D is stupid, and i just read their magazines to humor myself, and to read the occasional article about a nice domestic car.

What is even better is when you see the comparisons that they do. The GM cars always finish bad because the styling is bad. In February of 2000 they had a 9 car comparo that had the SSEi in it. The SSEi was the quickest car of the group (and 200lbs. heavier than any other car in the comparison), and it had the most options (which they said was a bad thing, they said GM should put less stuff in the car, and they would like it better, WTF???), BUT since the car was ugly, it finished 8th out of 9 cars. I can't stand them, and I write the editors letters from time to time, but they ignore them, they don't even send anything back saying they recieved my letter, stupid asses. The only car that could stop faster is the 300m, and there were only 2 cars that could handle better.

Anyways, enough with my rant about C&D. That is how I feel. Feel free to criticize me all you want.

March 2003 Issue Cover: "The Hottest Hunk," Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
June 2003 Issue Cover: "New-Wave Slingshots," WRX STi vs. Langer Evolution
September 2003 Issue Cover: "Fourgasm" Lots of ricers.

Yeah they don't give up on the new EVO or STi. But those are fast! Just shows you how being flasy, and following trends gets you ahead. I prefer road and track myself. They've even given away #1'* to non BMW cars recently too!

I read Road and Track too. And of the many I've read I haven't seen any nasty butt-ugly Lancers, or 4-bangers on the cover. If I did I probably wouldn't pick up the magazine.

Theyre just following the latest fad. Right now imports are the hot item, so they write articles accordingly so they can sell magazines. What they need is unbiased editors and writers.

smellbird hit the nail on the head with that..... the latest fad right now is 4cyln, do in part to movies like the Fast & the Furious (1 & 2). They print what people want to read inorder to sell magazines.... It'* all about money...

Just remember... they are a magazine... just like cosmo... they aren't a news organization. So of course their facts will be screwy, and of course they will be bias.

Exactly. I was going to make that point and compare it to Fast & Furious movies too.

But as long as we're bashing magazines now, how about Consumer Reports obsession with Japanese cars? It'* an obsession that'* been ongoing for many years now too. I remember when I was in the market for my first car in the late 80'* and I took CR'* advice and bought into the whole Japanese reliability craze. That Mazda 626 I bought based on their advice was the biggest POS I've ever had the displeasure to own. After that debacle I bought my next car based on my own opinions. I chose a used '87 Grand Am based on style, size, price and my needs. I drove that car from '92 to 2001 and it never let me down. I eventually sold it to my brother and it'* still on the road today. That car was the reason I stuck with Pontiac when I upgraded to the Bonnie. My Bonnie'* got some BIG shoes to fill.
