Default I need some advice...

I'm going to look at a '91 Chevy Caprice Classic tomorrow. It has 170k on it, but the ad says it'* in great condition, same owner for the last 10 years, and it was garage kept. Oh yeah, new tires and new... heater core, I think it said. The guys asking $2495, but I'm gonna offer him way less if I decide I'm interested (adequate power, handling, and comfort), $2000, maybe even as low as $1600, I was thinking of offering him, due to the fact that the KBB is actually down around $1700 for one in excellent condition, only $1400-something for one in good condition ( !? ). I'll be taking it by my mechanic if I decide to get serious about it, too. Any advice / opinions out there, possibly from someone who'* had one? Any other observations are also welcome (like I actually have a choice :P ) Thanks again, everyone!

Yea, the KBB in excellent condition is mid-1700. Maybe he'* just hoping for some black or aspiring black-complected gentleman to jump on it :? Ah well, I don't NEED a car, so I can afford to haggle Thanks for the reply!
