calling all computer nerds...need software written
will pay $$$ for working software...
ok heres the deal. at work we are doing the OSX switch from 9, and we have one last glitch. we cant open version 5 quark files in InDesign, but we can open version 4. i need a batch softare that will open all (thousands) of version 5 quark files, and convert them back to version 4. if nobody here has a clue, i will start posting on other forums...thanks

Batch file? Err.. I don't think a batch file will do it, bud. Maybe to open thousands of files.. but not the conversion. The conversion from 5 to 4 would need something written in a programming language [probably something low{er} level, such as C.. Object Oriented may not have enough control]. The best thing, would be to find out what language InDesign is written in [it can write the quark files, correct?] and that will be a good starting point as to which language to write it in. I only know Java and Assembly, and Assembly wouldn't work, since I do not have a Mac.. and not to mention the time.. and I am afraid Java wouldn't have enough control.

Never heard of any of that. I've been googling this, and all I came up with is you are not alone with your problem, and one software company charges for a conversion program, but I couldn't find the actual program. I'm still searching..
