Tanker VS Jeep!
Well I get an MSN message tonight from my buddy. He sends me a picture too, his totaled Jeep. He was on his way to get his son ( about 1.5 hours away) and got side swiped by a tanker truck. Once side swiped, the jeep went across the road ( on coming traffic) hit the ditch and landed on it'* side ( driver side). He had to climb out from the passenger side. The pictures are dark since it was dark out, and he had a cheap digital camera that he got for free. I will try to go and take pictures this weekend but it is still about 45mins to an hour away ( where the accident happened). He was fine, his leg is all bruised up, but other than that he is fine. The cops actually had the life flight helicopter ready and waiting, they figured they were going to pull a body out. Everyone was amazed that he walked away from it.
Maybe tomorrow or Sunday I will help him yank his deck out of the jeep. And to top it off, I went over tonight to make sure he was OK, and was not suffering any ill affects from the accident. We then find out his kitchen sink no longer has water, so the pipes froze in the wall.
Here are the pics (click on pic for bigger view).

It was the one front drivers side tire that got ripped right off the rim, along with the door. Yes he did get very lucky. If you look at the pics you can see the door under the jeep on the flatbed, held on by the wires. The door was still on the jeep till they got it back on 4 wheels, then it just fell off.
I think someone was watching out for him today.

Dang! He needs to thank God he didn't get creamed like that Jeep did. That must have been a highly intense moment for him. I would have probably had a heart attack going through just that alone. I'm glad he is okay and glad he didn't have his son with him.

Got a few more pics, that he took today on his way by where the jeep is now resting. It now gives us more knowledge of the accident.
Here is the jeep.
Now in the next one, it is the initial point of contact. You will see that he had swerved to miss the transport that was in his lane. Also use that blue vehicle as a reference point for distance.
Next you will see how far he went before hitting the ditch across the road ( hard to see but the are almost all the way across the road ).
Then finally where it came to rest.

I was just talking with him on msn again ( that'* how I got the new pics) and he now realizes just how lucky he really was. He is a bit stiff, but only has a bruise on his left leg from the door ( that is no longer part of the jeep, lol). That door you see sitting there, was NOT taken off by getting him out, it fell off when they put the jeep back on it'* 4 wheels.
