im wondering how they found the mad cow?
they obviously dont test each cow... so it just so happens that this one cow got tested and it turned positive?

My point is, that'* the bad news, what about the good news? Like the small percentage of total US beef it has been discovered in, and the number of people that were infected with previous outbreaks and whatnot...they are LOW. Don't remember exactly what they were, i'll try to look it up.

The media in the United States goes for shock value. Really. Bad news sells, good news doesn't.

Can't you see the undertone even in that "story"?? Terms such as "flat out banned", "stalled at foreign ports", "imposed"...Those words invoke within the reader a sense of nationalistic unrest. What will make the reader feel better? Point the finger. Lay blame. How does the media make their money? By feeding it. And that'* actually the least inducive story that I've read.
