creepy crawlies...
Last night I came home from work and sat down at the computer to check the forums, read email, etc. I got a little hungry so I walked into the kitchen for a snack and find I kid you not HUNDREDS of ants all over everything. They were covering the entire kitchen floor, the counters, the sink, stove, refrigerator... washer/dryer.. The bathroom was the same story. Hundreds of ants all over EVERYTHING. I freak out, grab my can of "hot shot" and go to work. I sprayed around all cracks/crevices, and all around all of the baseboards. I then vacuumed up all of the dead ants. All fine and dandy right? I killed them all, and go to bed.. Today, I wake up, investigate and voila, no more ants in my apartment! I was still feeling a little creepy-crawly after that so I got the vacuum back out and started vacuuming. I started off in the living room and noticed little brown peices of carpet that looked frayed. I got down and couldn't believe what I saw.... WORMS. They weren't worms from bugs or anything, but earthworms, poking THROUGH the carpet. I am so grossed out right now. My apartment is completely spotless clean and I have all these living things all over. I kid you not, I picked five worms out of the carpet that were poking through like a worm sticking itself out of the ground after a huge rainfall. I have no idea where all of these ants/worms are coming from. I don't even want to walk around my place at this point. It'* just so gross. WTF do I do from here? haha.

Hmm thats odd I have had the same ant problem but never worms? That is a strange one since worms stay underground unless it rains? There is a wood floor under your carpet? Hoiw did they get thru?

I moved my couch and found more of the disgusting things and saved them.. Also found a few more ants.

Shadow, that'* what I'm wondering. My apartment is on the bottom floor and has cement directly under the carpet. Makes me think that there must be a crack in the foundation or something where these little "friends" are popping through. I wonder if the earthquake opened up a fissure under my floor.

That sucks. I woke up one morning a few weeks ago and saw hundreds of little ants all over our kitchen in our apartment. What a nightmare! I called the landlord and he came out and took care of it.
Good luck with getting that place clean. Outside creatures sure are pesky when they get inside.

Holy crap! That'* nasty. There HAS to be a crack letting them in through your floor. I've had a problem with ants before, but NEVER worms!
I left an opened can of Sprite under my bed (drank about half and went to sleep - I put it under the bed so I wouldn't wake up and kick it over). I forgot it was there for probably weeks. Then I couldn't understand why there was always a trail of ants leading to my bed! After a week of trying to figure out what was going on, I looked under my bed and there was the can of Sprite with a gazillion dead ants floating in the bottom. This was many years ago (read: younger and dumber). I learned my lesson - don't put beverages under the bed.
