Rust Problem in towers in 97 Dodge Grand Carvan(now /w pic)
My parents havve 97 grand carvan and it has develop bad rust problem in the strut towers. My parents mechincs say the car has about year so before the rust get bad enough before it goes though the tower. What is the best way to slow this down. My idea is this is to sand it down really good. Then I rust preventer spray that on let it sit for 24 hrs and then paint it

i'd just put a crap load of that rust prevenner goup on it and call it a day. if it was caught earlier you might have a chance but it sounds like it'* to bad to cure.
if i were you i'd sell that shiit bucket as soon as possible and buy something else.

Best solution is to trade it off. Let someone else deal with it. Rust is always deeper than you see it. So I'd seriously consider trading it, or driving it until it rots out, then drive it to the junkyard and get your $75 and call it a day.

WHERE is the rust? We had a member here some time ago that had rust on a strut tower on a Bville and was able to repair it. If it'* on th side, you can reinforce the tower. Can we have pics?

as far as a preventing it goes, i've had real good luck with POR 15... Used it on my jeep that had some bad rust on the floor pans, stoped it dead in its tracks for two years till i sold it, and far as i know its still good.
kind of a nasty process though, its 3 or 4 steps (can't remember exactly) and its bad enough where they reccamend you whare a resperator while you work with it.

I am going over thurday to their house to fix it at the garage busted blower motor. The mechinic said that thier is two layer metal on the tower and it has gone thought the 1st layer complete about 4 circle sort of. Well I do live in Michigan so yes their is some salty driving. The battery is right next to strut tower (I wonder if that has something to do with it.) At least body wise their is no visable rust. When I am overthough thrusday I will tak pictures

When I worked at the body shop, they would get Grand Caravan and T&C with rusted out strut towers all the time. Chrysler has like a retro kit that is shaped like the tower and you just weld it in and paint it. I guess they happen all the time in the Northern states.
