Default RedLight District is still alive! (sorta)

Tonight I was out with my buddy Paul whom I havent seen in quite some time, which frankly is pretty lame because we only live a few minutes apart, and he is dating a co worker of mine and...well...whatever. Anyhow, 3 years ago he bought my infamous 89 Bonneville SE for a mere $2000. It was to be his winter car so he could keep his nice 2000 Accord coupe in decent shape and not endure Ontario roads in winter.

Well, he recently picked up a Civic beater for $500 dollars, citing it was a better deal for insurance, gas and maintenance (all true) but the Bonneville (for you newbs my car was named RedLight District and has legendary status in BC lore) is still around.

We drove up, and the headlights reflected off its-still-shiny paint! I couldnt believe it!! The rust around the wheel well has gotten worse and the spot on the door isn't to small anymore but my goodness she'* still a looker.

Oh and if anyone wants it for $500 bux, it needs a new battery and some TLC they can take it.

I still love that car.

For you newbs.

BeaterHondas aren't necessarily going to be cheaper on insurance. The '91 hatch cost a couple hundred more to insure for the year compared to the SSE.

Will it pass emissions easy Jim? More details on what it needs?

What kind of Civic beater does Paul have? Trades?

That is not a recent pic, its from 2 autumns ago.

I would assume the car would pass e-test, but safety might be another story. She'* on her last legs, gotta be realistic. With a proper cleaning, it could easily look like it did 2 years ago, but with a bit more rust damage.

The Civic that Paul is driving is a 94? 2 door hatch, its nothing but a puddle jumper, has 140K, red in color and rusting really really badly. Hell the Bonneville has less rust and its seen waaaay worse conditions. Difference being, the Civic is easier on gas, and less to maintain thanks to the lower kms...but its still a lousy Civic hatch.

Trans has seen better days? Something that can be tacked in a couple weeks and put back on the road? I'm interested, Jimbo!

I'm getting very tired of this hatchback. It'* mechanically sound - quite a bit of rust that has been filler'ed over (looks great from 50 feet), but she goes well.

I remember driving past his place oh... 3 years ago just to get a glimmer of it. You had just gotten your aurora a few months prior IIRC...

That was a good weekend Making me want to visit the GTA this summer again. Now money will be the easy part
