It'* a good question to ask. Afterall..it was a similar question etc that started the practice.

For example, if someone with a failed upper dug up and followed an old topic, we'd miss about half of our knowledge from this past year. Seeing about 1/3 of a quart of oil is below the oil pan drain plug.. I now suggest that water could be sitting there and we should pull the pan with a failed upper.
