I think almost all plans allow for text messaging now. Mine has a monthly limit, but I don't remember what it is. Then it'* like 4 cents in 6 cents out.....

You can go to www.verizonwireless.com and actually set your phone up with an e-mail address. I think mine is jherry at vtext dot com

Oh, and you can e-mail people from your phone, too
