I've been grinning the whole way through this thread! Especially Gumball'* count down of apendages. Good lord he is tall! My kids were only 20" at full term. He'* a fine, strappn young man you have there! It'* hard to believe he'* only 5lbs from the pictures.

Good job by all...now... get your rest so you're not the next one lying in a bed.

Hugs and kisses to the GXP Family!

Mom was in to see Leland lastnight and again this morning. She is doing ok just a lot of pain and cramping. She still has a lot of adeama but the more she goes to the washroom the better.

Leland is doing so well his nurse asked if I wanted to kangaroo with him basically that is skin on skin I declined the offer as I honestly want mom to hold him first. More pictures will come soon I hope. Mom was reading some of the posts I had printed off lastnight and now knows its not all about the car. Its a family.

Sitting in the NICU with her and Leland this morning I finally felt like I had my family together.

Rob, I really have to say I am very impressed at what a great husband and father you are.
I like that you are waiting for Mom to have the first contact. Very generous of you. You're gonna make an awesome Dad!!

Well guys nothing but good to report about Leland. He is now getting 2cc'* more food every feeding now and seems to be taking it well. Mom has held and fed him once and been in twice. She is having a tough time with it tho as to be expected with a mom havin a C-Section. She is in some what of denial and is having a hard time with the pump but I have talked to her about it and she is willing to try again. And wants to go down for the 8pm feeding and try some Kangarooing. Also there is someone coming in to speak with her in the morning. Her health is improving just taking it a little longer.

I have been to every feeding except for the 5am one this morning. (I finally needed dome sleep).

My emotions have kind of leveled out. But let me say that the nurses who work in the Neonatal intevsive care Unit are some very special people. With all the great things they it isn't all that great and just by being there I have witnessed that first hand and it starts the emotions all over again. I guess someone was watching over Mom and Leland on thursday. Because they kept my family safe. With the way moms BP was there was a big chance os stroke or seizure and I could have lost either or both of them. I explaind that to Mom today when she was mad that she hadn't had a phone before thursday. We were told to keep her as stress free as posible and my mom was asked to take her phone before the transfer. Sometimes its hard to play the tough guy but it is the right thing to do.

So I have more pics a lot more and have even made mom a slide show so she can see Leland even when she is blue and doesn't want to venture out.

Again like I have been saying to the Dr'* and Nurses thank you. THANK YOU. Thank you.

Hello Leland! And contratulations to mom & dad!
You've just been endowed with the most important title you can have...dad. There is no higher calling for a man. You've taken on a great responsibility that you can only understand once you become a father. (Ditto for mom).

Thanks for sharing this. Takes me back to the birth of my 3 kids...boy, that was a long time ago...my last one attended her final homecoming dance Saturday.

The thing with Leland that is different for me is I have never experianced a pre term baby. Mom'* youngest son was born at the same time so she kinda knew what to expect. It is something that I never want to experiance again knowing that your child is there but not being able to hold him and comfort him was driving me insane. Mom is still in the hospital and will likely not be dischargded until she shows an improvement in the BP, I have stood firm saying that I DO NOT want her released until she is 100%, She not only has Leland but another son at home that dont need a sick mom.

I have a slide show that I put together lastnight and I thought I would share it.. Mom was in lastnight to get some cuddling in and that was great for both. this morning they have Leland under the lights and will check him for bellirubin every 12 hours. so now back to not being able to hold him but great news he has taken to the bottle most of the time but I understand that it wears him out but just being able to hold and bottle feed him was worth a million . Also Leland has been eating WELL and is now being increased 2cc'* every feeding at this point he is up to 25cc'*

He is my little champ just like mom she is my newest HERO, I dont even think i could rate Boosty up there even if he put a blower on my LD8.

Speaking of cars I think mine is mad at me I went out the other night and had to call roadside for a booost. (Left the phone chargers pluged in)

WOW! He'* a great looking son you both have brought into this world. Sorry I was so busy this weekend that I'mjust getting to see this so thanks for the slideshow and the pics! Tracy'* right, its hard to beleive he'* only 5 pounds.

You both get extra kudo'* for tuffing out what had to seem like a nightmare but you both pulled thru to bring such a beautiful boy into the world.

Congratulations!
