Laptop lit up
Well I got off school early today and didn't have to work so I decided to get started on typing my paper, I wanted lunch as well so I grabbed my old IBM clone ThinkPad with Windows 3.1 (oooooh) and started it up. I ran downstairs, fiddled around in the kitchen for a while and when I came back upstairs smoke was pouring out of both sides of the screen! I'm just glad it was just the computer and didn't actually light my desk up! Still shocked the hell outta me when I came in to find the thing smoking.

LOL
I work tech support and I have had a few calls before for stuff like that. Iremember one where I was called because something in their area was giving off a "burning" smell. Turns out a monitor (still working) was in the process of melting down all the plastic internals... man that smelled bad. Another one was one monday morning this lady came in and tried to log in to her pc, but nothing ever showed on the screen. I opened the case to find that over the weekend the video card had literally burned up (flames and all). I got that card sitting next to me on my desk as a convcersation piece..lol

I'm not having very good luck with computers lately. The IBM must have had a short in the wiring in the monitor and just started itself on fire. I ended up typing my paper on my Dell desktop and doing my coding work on an Apple G4 which froze the minute I tried to upload my work on the server so again I had to turn to my Dell which had no trouble loading and running the code. Looks like I'm gonna have to start saving up for a new Dell laptop. :( I took the IBM outside just in case it lit up again, got it started up and the whole thing looked like it was running with high contrast settings on. The screen was pretty much shot. Too bad, for a 12 year old computer it got what I needed it to do done.
