Default Mom in FLA needs help: 97 Lumina 3100

Mom noticed an oil leak shortly after an oil change. She returned to the place the work was performed and they said that there was no problem (of course). She was away for several weeks for the holidays but put some newspaper under the car before she left. 6 weeks later she returned only to find oil stains on the newspaper. This is the estimate for the repairs:

Now, I have yet to see a vehicle with an upper and lower oil pan but I really have no experience with the GM 3100. Can anybody shed some light on what these people might be talking about? Could they be talking about the intake manifolds and if so, is the 5.6 hrs of labor correct for this kind of repair?

The lower and upper intake gaskets will NOT allow oil to drip, so anyone with some common sense would know that. Those will only leak while driving. The oil pan... drop it, change oil pan gasket, and retorque on the torque sequence and rating for a 3800. I don't know how mechanically inclined your mom is.. so she may want to take it to a shop. After I changed my oil pan I leaked a little oil because I didn't torque the oil pan down in the proper sequence.. so it leaked, not a lot, but enough for me to notice. I am anal, though.

Mom'* not much of a mechanic... that'* the reason she got the estimate. It seems like the is off the chart on this one.
