Default Good Video Editing Software?

What is the best free video editing software out there, if any? Need to be able to capture video from a VCR and Camera. I have a Dazzle product that does that, but since I installed winxp the software does not work anymore, and what really sucks is the dazzle company has been bought out and no longer gives support on a lot of their old products.

Studio DV has a pretty nice and simple program but its not the best...The best would be final cut pro but yah you would need an apple for that.

WMM 2.0 is free and pretty good... very user friendly.
