I was awake during both of my extractions, each several years apart. Since I was in the army, I got to wait until they actually hurt before they got pulled. So, I got to listen to them break the teeth into pieces, as they were impacted, and feel the tugging and yanking. And, the lovely period where the piece of my jawbone floted to the surface.
Getting teeth pulled for my plate was much easier. They injected some sort of cocktail into an IV. Next thing I know, I'm waking up at home, hearing about my mis-adventures with the nurses from The Missus. Apparently I'm a very happy "drunk".... But I do remember the Doc saying that most people wake up crying.

haha, I got mine out Oct 5th...
I was in pain, but I drove all the way home That twilight sleep they put me under was kinda interesting. I actually remember waking up during it and seeing and hearing stuff and then I remember being in the recovery area and being a little too cheerful with the nurses
Well so anyways, yeah like I said, I drove there and drove home, all 75 miles each way of it I think I'm nuts lol, but I felt REALLY awake! For you on the other hand, Mr. Bowling Ball , You seem to be a little more affected by that kinda stuff.
But anyways, I was out of pain in a few days and I'm still pain free, its like I never knew it happened. I don't really know what it SOLVED, because my dentist said it was really my choice because they were coming in perfectly straight and everything so that was good. But it was also good because the oral surgeon said mine were the easiest he had ever removed! He said they just kinda came right out for him. But OH well. So good luck with healing up! And make sure to follow any and all instructions that were given to yah...DRY SOCKETS HURT LIKE HELL, fyi .
