Putting the CTS in storage?

Putting the CTS in storage?
I'm thinking about putting the CTS in storage for a while. Reason being? The cost to drive it during the winter. Adding things together, I think I'll save money by actually NOT driving it in the winter and making another car payment. Seems crazy but here'* my math.
The CTS gets 20.8 MPG average. My brother wants to sell me a 96 Regal with the 3800 that gets 26 MPG average.
I drive around 340 miles/week.
Gas per month for the CTS is figured by...
340/20.8= 16.34 gallons a week. 16.34 X $3.20= $52.28/week. $52.28 X 4=$209.12/month in gas.
Gas per month for the Regal is figured by...
340/26=13.08 gallons a week. 13.08 X $3.20 = $41.86/week. $41.86 X 4= $167.44
Money saved/month is figured by...
$209.12-$167.44 = $41.68/month in savings
Also, putting the CTS in storage, with storage insurance is like $10/month as far as I know, and full coverage on the Regal would be MUCH cheaper. I should also qualify for a multi-car discount. Oil changes are also a log cheaper since the CTS needs synthetic oil @ 7 quarts, whereas the Regal would use dino oil @ 4 quarts.
The logic seems pretty sound to me, or am I totally wrong?
My brother has a loan on the Regal currently because he bought it for $2,700. What I plan on doing is paying HALF of the car loan, while he pays the other half because he currently owes me $1,000. I will pay $80/month, and he will pay the other $80/month until he has paid a total of $1,000. (nearly a year.) OR, if I have an excess of money/month, I'll just pay off his loan and get my own so he doesn't have to keep paying half the payment, and he can pay me the balance of whatever'* left of the $1,000.
Would this make any sense?

Makes sense... but you're spending more on the second vehicle than the savings you're getting for storing the CTS for the winter. Not sure what kind of insurance rates you have, but after the $80 dollars a month you're already over the $41.68 in savings.
The positives are you won't be adding mileage to the CTS, sounds like you'll be helping out your brother, AND you'll be a proud owner of an l36 (i think) .

sounds like a huge pain in the *** to save 40 bucks a month. what are your plans with the buick later on? would you be selling it?
good point about teh insurance, if your insuring it, that may just be more than the 41/month you would be saving.
If it was me, i would find another way to cut $1/day out of my budget... Dont go out for lunch, if you do limit yourself to a certain amount, no coffee in the AM, etc...

I'd have the CTS in a closed garage until probably May. I don't know. I guess a big thing is I'd like to limit the miles on it a little bit because it already has 70,000 miles, and it'* two years old.

If it was a CTS V i'd say sure, but it'* not *that* nice of a car, collectable, etc. It'* a great car, but I don't think it warrants storing. Granted you may be up a little bit at the end, and have two cars, and then you'd be up if you sold it as well.
You could always find ways to cut down other costs too if money is a concern, drive smoother, more effeciently, drive less, etc.
Is the Regal N/A? Then gas will be cheaper a little bit as well.

Also, do you really know for sure you would get 26MPG with the Regal? Is it similar driving? For that car, 26 mpg is probably mostly highway. Is the 20.8 you get mostly highway?
