But.. Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA, and both have roaming agreements...
I can't get over verizon'* crippling interface, and sprint seems to be great in MN, Minneapolis is one of their Wimax rollout places..

Roaming? What'* that?
My NEXTEL either works or it doesn't lol.....No roaming involved haha.
I think the iPhone is gonna be killed by two things.....Their exclusive carrier (I got 3 miles from my parents house with them and I was in raoming when I had AT&T) and their price....I can imagine it'* gonna be $450 at least.

The prices as announced at the keynote this January (or Feb. IIRC) were $500 for the 4GB and $600 for the 8GB IIRC. For what it is...phone w/ revolutionary features, real internet, video/music iPod, etc...that seems good. It'* basically (as described by Jobs) the price of your typical smartphone plus the regular video iPod.
I've had Cingular for two years and the only place I have not gotten reception is at work – very small town, which is fine since I don't bring my phone in the office anyway.

I have cingular/at&t and have had it for the past 6 years and haven't had any problems. I can go anywhere with the phone. I don't like Verizon, Cellular South, or Alltell (those are what is in my area) and I've not been impressed with those companies but cingular/at&t is better. I am not under contract and haven't been for a while but if I choose to upgrade from my razr I can get a good discount through my work.
I would like to know what this Iphone is going to run. Probably more than I'm willing to pay right now but in a year or two I'm sure it will be more affordable.

You have to remember that when AT&T and Cingular combined their networks, They became the largest network in the US. Cingular was already the class of the field in the Northwest, and just got better. Verizon is commonly known as the worst quality and coverage. Again, as stated already, different areas have different key providers, but with the merger, it'll be hard to beat AT&T anywhere. Their data packages are very competitive as well.
Voice coverage:
Verizon won't even let my zoom out their coverage map to see the national coverage, and their NW coverage is very sparse in comparison to the competition.
As far as the phone goes, I'm not horribly impressed with the iphone. Other than a cool whizbang display, it doesn't really break any new ground. I'll stick with what I know works, and my Razr treated me well for a long time. I recently upgraded to the V3xx for free. I get a new phone every year under my premier plan with HP, and I get a 25% discount on my rate plan as well.
