isnt the battery non-replaceable? Lithium Polymer and Lithium Ion batteries generally only have 200-400 charge/discharge cycles before loosing efficency.

Apple did two things wrong.
1) Invested in Cingular/ATT. The second worst cell phone company in America. Do you realize that it'* 200 bucks to cancel your service and switch to another service? Also, Cingular doesn't have the best coverage, either (I've had it for a year back in MI).
2) What exactly is it? A phone/newton revival/ipod/toaster? Hmm, sounds like a Microsoft Smart Phone (save the toaster)... So, all it has going for it is that stupid screen? Ok, get it for the screen, be hip and with it, I'd rather have a better product Wink

i can't imagine what that thing is going to cost...
IMO its probably going to be overpriced just like the ipods

don't get me wrong it looks like a cool phone, and it probably will be a big hit, just because there are people willing to pay the outrageous price for it, just like the ipod.

I'm split on it, it'* a great idea, and in 10 years we'll all have something that'll do more then our phones on us all the time. I think the AT&T exclusivity will hurt them, they should've done 2 or 3 major carriers, and I hope it'* more scratch resistant than my 5g iPod.

It'* definitely a step forward in usability compared to the PDA/phones we've had for a while.

EVERY major wireless service in the country has a $200 ETA fee IIRC, or atleast $150. It'* primarily done because of the prices they offer phones at, they need you for the contract period to recoup the cost of the phone and get some decent profit. If they sell you a $300 handset for $30 bux, they need you around long enough to cover that outside of normal operating cash.

Yeah, that'* what I was saying. Who wants to pay 200 bucks to switch their service, and then pay 400-500 bucks for the iPhone?

Your totally right on the ATnt thing. (Even though that cingular advertises that they have least dropped calls) I know they don't there has been studies out there for that. Anyways iPhone is going to be a major hit for consumers. Atnt even hired 2000 more people so that they can handle the Iphones debut.

I dont know what your talking about, i had Verizon here in Up state NY and they Sucked up here, i had them for 6 years.

Cingular(AT&T) iv had for 2 years now, i LOVE them. WAY better sound quality and better service (in the areas where i go) and iv had like 3 or 4 dropped calls sense i got them. with verizon i had like at least 1 or 2 a month and the voice mail took Fooking forever to get to me.

NOW* every State is different. Some states verizon i better and others Sprint is better..
It all depends on the population and how many and how new the towers are in that State.

IE. while im out at boostys house, his verizon sounds great. just as good as my cingular.

Also one really nice thing about the GSM network, just like a LAND Line, With Cingular you can talk and here the other person at the same time.

now far as the termination Fee.. Cinguler is better then Verizon. I know!!!

Verizon- $150
Cingular- $200 (prorated) as in the longer into your contract you cancel it the less it is.

I had to cancel one of my lines on my plan and it was only $100

now i know what some of you are going to say " Bandit, you must have had a crappy phone with verizon"
Nope, i have it for 6 years, i had 3 different phone. the last phone i had was the E815 by Motorola, Boosty had the same phone. and then i got Cingular, WAY!!! better.

True, every area is different. I had Sprint and it was very mediocre. I've since switched to Verizon and it'* very, very good. My dad had Cingular where we used to live, but it sucks where we moved to, and Sprint sucked where I go to college. Verizon is great in every area I go to, but I wouldn't expect the same quality throughout the country.
