I see you have a 155hp Diplomat. When did you get it? I've been looking for a fast winter beater and think the 89' Lanser with the 174hp turbo four would fit the bill. I didn't know so many Chryslers had turbos in the 80'*. Where they actually quick? I saw a butt load of turbo New Yorkers at the junkyard.

Yup, the motor was a transplant from a 1985 Chrysler 5th Avenue when I blew the original 360 up back in 2000 after an encounter with speeds near 150 mph. Just a little too much for that engine to withstand those revs for over 1 minute straight -pulled into town and heard bubbling. Next the engine started missing and sputtering. Was a sad day. At least she went out in a battle for glory against a 350'fied 1982 Camaro.
Trading the my Park Avenue to dad for the Diplomat and the Stanza (not to mention I had borrowed $1G from dad to fix the Park Ave, so it was already partially his).

I've had two turbo Lancers (still own the 1987 Lancer with the 2.2L TI auto and only 57k original miles). Nice little cars if you ignore their never-ending problems.
If you think you are going to find a TII H-body mopars -1989 specifically, you have quite a task on your hands. They only made something like 101 1989 Dodge Lancer Shelby'* (available in white (most), red (some), and black (only like .
I do know of a 1989 Lebaron GTS (the only year that GTS was actually a real gem). It has the ground effects, rear ducktail spoiler on the hatch, the A-555 trans, and VIN A engine -yes it'* a true TII car. But it'* rusted to heck, and has like 130k on it (which is high mileage on these cars). It'* in the fenced area of a little dealers lot up by Big Lake on HWY 10. Been a year since I saw it there, but it'* been there since at least 1999 when I first saw it there. It needed at least a radiator (very common of the TII intercooler radiator setups).

I noticed in my car encyclopedia that the Lebaron is the twin sister of the Lancer and offers the 174hp Turbo. They only weigh 2600lbs . Even the sedan is light. What do tthey run stock anyways. Low 15s auto, high 14s stick?

Should be somewhere in the mid-15'*. The LeBaron GTC is the specific car you're thinking of, and they're pretty nice cars. If you're looking for a weekend racer though, try looking for a Dodge Shadow ES turbo or a Plymout Duster with the turbo motor. My brother has the Duster with the 3.0 V-6, 5spd stick, and a few very light mods, and he'* in the upper 14'*.
But the real muscle is still the turbo 4-cyl, that motor can handle a lot of power. There are any number of old turbo Shadow/Dusters running down into the 9'*, and a couple that are starting to hit the 8'*. The Charger or Spirit R/T are also good choices for putting down power, but they are a bit heavier than the Shadow/Duster, without being any bigger inside.
If you want some more stuff on the MOPAR turbo-cars try www.turbododge.com. They're a pretty big group, like us, and they also have a great official video thread going. It'* up to almost 90 pages now!

Are they RWD? If they are FWD I want to know how they keep traction and their front end on the ground. Nothing would satisfy me more to pull up to a Ferrari in a POS Shadow and then procced to waste him.
