Fire at work
There was a fire where I work. Happened so fast it took out the wiring for the fire alarm. So no alarm. The fire dept showed up because there was a rapid drop in water pressure.
Took out the air compressor. Everything runs on air pressure, so everything is down. Not much for me to do so I was sent home.

No one was hurt. Sounds like they expected to be back up and running in 36 hours. The new compressor was being dropped off when I left yesterday and they were pulling new wires. I go back tomorrow. Hope it'* all running again.

Last I heard they didn't know yet. It was by the compressor. It was so fast the fire alarm never went off. Took out the wiring and then burned until the sprinkler burned off. The drop in water pressure brought the fire dept. But they didn't know what building it was. Just that the area had a rapid pressure drop. The plant was closed for Christmas so the only person there was the security guard. The firemen were banging on the door and he'* like, what? The building'* on fire. It is? Would be kind of funny if the fire alarm was the cause.

the newer panels are nice, but a pain if you have to work on it, our sensors are on network loops, if one wire gets burned through it can tell from the wire going the other way. and its remote monitored so even if the control is burned up the monitoring company will know it lost comm and call out anyway.

Looks like the found the cause. When the plant was shut down for the holiday maint. shut off the air compressor. however, the compressor didn't shut down. A solenoid shorted out and the compressor kept running. The cooling system however did shut off. After about 30 mins the oil reach it'* flash point and exploded in a ball of fire.
