OK, so I've got a seawall betwen the end of my backyard and the lake. I'ts railroad ties, and currently the water isn't up to the wall. But, in years past, the water has reached the top of the wall.

Over time, the soil between the wall and the yard had eroded to where there was about an 8" wide gap, 3 feet or so deep. Over the past few weeks I've filled it with gravel, rocks, in some cases some sort of mesh that you might find a tree ball wrapped in (but not burlap), finally filling in the top with dirt. In this I planeted grass seed.

On top of all thst I have gophers/moles, but no signs of recent activity. I filled in those holes with dirt.

Now I need to plant something that will establish a deep, wide root system, and quickly (a season or two).

Compllicating factors: People like to walk down to the seawall to fish, so I don't want an end to end barrier.

I'm thinking of putting in a few corkscrow willows, because they grow so quickly.

A new seawall (although it needs one - is not an option).

I'm not opposed to some sort of bushes between the willows, I'd just leave some 5' gaps in a couple places.

Having said all that, I'd rather have an end to end barrier and reduced chance of more erosion than to worry about the occasional person who wants to fish.

I have some ideas, but let'* see some pics. We need to see your view, so our ideas don't conflict with it. I think of myself as somewhat of a master landscaper. (in the past before I had two cars sucking up all my free time).
