How someones innocent thread can be locked just because of someone with false info. This doesn't make sence at all. We can't even say something simple or give others advice or instuctions how to repair or mod things without a person lying or flaming. This makes me

Steve, when the dust settles, we'll take care of it. I want to leave it for all to see for the time being. If you want to start another post, fire one up in Performance and Brainstorming on Brakes.

(moving this to the lounge)

For those who don't know what'* up, this is the thread in question:

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...er=asc&start=0

Please read the whole thing for an accurate understanding, as there is some really good information in that thread, particularly the last post

It is locked because that way the information is held that way, and can be further disected. No one can edit anything, and only the staff can post there right now. If this happened on MNBC (whenever they find it) it'* exactly what I would do.

To me, i just see some brake company, trying to sell a product to us, in a very poor fashion.

The problem was that he (Ram Air V) was not listening to tried and true advice and went contrary to real research, and my own experience with inferior products. The lock was not intended to chastise anyone innocent.

Jason hit it on the nail.

It'* there for Covington Pontiac to reference. They're trying to track this guy down. He seriously discredited them, and may have gotten them in hot water with GM if it had gone any further.

Goodness gracious!!!

Ram Air is a good description of what was trying to be done to us. Good work on the way this subject was handled everyone...and special kudos to Bill.

It has been debunked by just about everyone not involved in marketing that cryrogenics is NOT proven to be any better at releiving stress than proper heat cycling after the rotors are installed.

Cross drilling reduces the efective swept area of the pads...this means you have less braking surface. Holes do contribute to cracking if not cast in.

Slotting helps the braking performance enormously in wet braking conditions. It has not been demonstrated they contribute to uneven pad wear. If the slots on your rotor are worn to the point of being flush with the rest of surface - your rotors are way past their service life.

Outgassing of pads is largly a thing of the past. The binding materials and adhesives used nowadays are far les suseptable to this.

In the 3 years I owned my 2000 Grand Prix GTP and the 36,000 Kms I put on it, the original rotors were warped and the pads worn by 12,000 Kms. I upgraded to 12" front rotors using PowerSlot cadmium plated rotors all around with AC Delco Durastop ceramic pads. By 24,000 Kms these rotors were also warped. I then replaced them with AC Delco 12" rotors and by 34,000 Kms these were also warped.

I know many Grand Prix owners and those that drive their cars hard fully expect to replace rotors on a regular basis, regardless of the brand (Baer perhaps may be excluded).

Anyone remotely familiar with the relative undersizing of GM brakes would have expected to experience warped rotors under any hard use conditions.

The post in question was nothing short of complete BS with regards to Ram Air V'* alegations. I'm very pleased with professionalism of people here in dealing with such bunk.

Cheers,

Thanks, Fog. Great info. For your next pair of rotors, consider the RSM'* at www.domesticperformance.com

I test-fit the first pair, and I'm very pleased with them.

On a side note, this 'kill' was a concerted effort by Myself and two Moderators. Assisted by another Moderator and a Gearhead. It was a huge team effort.

I'm not saying who these other people are, as these situations sometimes result in reprisals (personal attacks). I've been a victim of this before, and it will happen again. Goes with the territory.

The entire staff of this site is dedicated to the purpose of serving the members. This is exactly the type of thing we look for on a daily basis. Great team, great forum. Having the backing of the members is crucial.

I think it was handled very well myslef. I probably would have locked it earlier.

Just on a side note. If people from Canada are looking fro those RSM rotors like will is taling about from TY at www.domesticperformance.com that if you want to avoid paying the extra duty on them you can probably get them from Rat www.bonnevilleattitude.com/store.

I am not trying to advertise for him since I get nothing from him, but I myself like to buy from a canadian store when I can to avoid paying the gov more than I have to, and that dman duty can get up there pretty quick too.

I know that TY and Rat are friends and would not do anything to try and **** either one off.

Just choices is all.
