I need to know if my computer is going to mess up
I was told thaat you cannot install Windows XP on a computer that has Windows 95 on it. Compaq said that the 95 version is too old and won't carry it. Well I installed XP on here anyway because I needed a working compuer(the presario is down) and I wanted to install the broadband modem as well. XP is working. I just want to know is there going to b any repocussions?

you cannot upgrade a windows 95 machine to windows XP. You can totally reformat the drive and then install XP on it but you can't just upgrade. IF you went teh upgrade route you'd have to go from 95 to 98 and then install xp. You'll need a full version of windows XP, not just a upgrade version. Most computers that run windows 95 don't have the necessary hardware to run XP anyways. It'll probably be so slow it wouldn't be bearable.

heres the thing, my COMPAQ was not working. i needed the computer that had 95 really bad for some work. I grabbed all the CD'* that came with the Compaq 4000 series and used it for the Plentium computer (Windows 95). i hooked the disk up, downlowaded it and it works fine with no problems with speed or anything. Its great!

there was a version of '95 I think it was "c" that had Fat32 support.
If the computer is at least a P2 or equivalant with enough ram you should be fine.

no problems with speed?!? im afraid im gonna have to pull the generic .
i ran xp on my celeron 400 w/ 128 meg of ram, and i caught some serious lag. i ended up going back to windows 98 and firing up a dual monitor setup <which i love with a passion>. if you are running xp right now, and like the way it acts and everything, go for it. only problem you might run into would be a speed issue. but if its fine with you, its fine.
