Police Cars
i been wondering, if GM is more reliable, and the 5.7 has more power than the Ford 5.0, why do the vast majority of police use crown vics instead of caprices? just something id been pondering as i considered a caprice as a car since i like power and rwd but i dont want a ford and i dont want higher insurance for a sports car

Ford V8'* are the ****! Plus crown vics are just like the right size and shape. And, a Caprice? I havent seen one of those around for a while. I know some use modern day Impala'*.

Fords have a better track record and the model of crown vics was specifically build for police work. Thats why Chevys attempt at police package impalas[new body style] hasnt worked for snot, being a FWD vs RWD. Doesnt hold up well to the stress, and the big 4.6L V8 thats been a staple in police work, cant be beat The older model impalas just werent designed for it, but there wasnt an abundant supply of poilice ready crown vics till the mid to later 90s. Although, be on the lookout for new coming up. The new model of dodge charger is going to be introduced with a police package that might very well kill the crown vic in its tracks.

The charger wont kill the crown vic. Most police stations wont practical instead of speed or looks. Now, some southern stations in GA, AL might use that as a highway patrol.

They don't use Caprices because they're not made anymore! The Caprice was a whole lot better than the Crown Victoria ever was, or will be. Talk to any officer that had both, they will all say the Caprice was better hands down in basically every way.

Brute force is about the same. Both v8'* and both weigh around 4000lbs. The vics suspension and handling is better, so it might feel softer on the interstate or something.
