Default I didn't know Google could do this...

Go to Google and type in "3.8 liters in cubic inches" (quotes not necessary). Perty dang cool, man!

3.8 liters = 231.890228 cubic inches

So, the 5.7 Liter Hemi is just a 350. Hmmm.......

Thats some good info. Hopefully no dodge motorhead sees that post and has his bubble busted. 5 liters in trucks are pretty common, just the way some companies advertise their stuff is kinda funny when you find out the real truth about it.

Default Hemi

Another note on the Hemi - Dodge isn't the only one to have. The Hemi just places the spark plug over the center of the piston. The result? A bigger, more evenly distributed explosion forces the piston down faster, generating more HP and more torque. Pretty much most of your high HP/torque engines are using similar plug placement...Dodge just copyrighted Hemi, so they're the only ones with a name for it.

This leads to a question, if the Dodge is cranking out about 40HP more than it'* competitors, why is it the slowest truck on the road? Because it'* the heaviest. The Nissan Titan only with 305HP is the fastest in the full-size truck market.

Sorry, I babble...

Oh, so that is all the hemi is? I knew about that spark plug configuration before, but didnt know that was the samething that dodge uses. I really dont like the Titan. Looks like a dog with floppy ears and smiling all the time.

The hemi is a hemispherical, or half circular combustion chamber.

the 5.7L hemi is "just a 350" yes. But It'* putting more out then the 5.7L in our yukon.

so, the chamber, is it like half circle? or half of a sphere? LIke i'm picturing a soccer ball cut in half, sitting on the ground, and then the plug is on the very top?

So hemi is short. And all this time I thought it was just some cool nickname for the engine. Does it have to be a 5.7l or can it be a 5l or 6l? You think it is as productive in fuel injected as in carburated?

It'll work in whatever you toss it in, regardless of engine size, carb, or fuel injection. It'* all about the bang of the pistons. I don't know this for fact, but I think Dodge first coined the term 'Hemi' when it tossed into a Charger.

I think the term 'Hemi' is sort of like 'Vortec' or 'Triton'. Ooh - what do those do? Oh, nothing - just the names of our engines.

the 5.7L hemi is "just a 350" yes. But It'* putting more out then the 5.7L in our yukon.
Don't get crazy now...it may be putting out all sorts of HP, but it has to pull around a lot more weight. Stat for stat, the Dodge powered Hemi'* are the slowest of the full size trucks. That'* doesn't mean they're not SWEET to look at though.

I don't know. Those Hemi Rams can pull low 7'* 0-60 easily.
