Have you tried lowering your antenna to eliminate the 50' extension as the culprit?
The reviews seem decent for the extension, maybe yours is bad. Radio shack also sells an extension made by Monster Cables if you want to try a different brand.

I'm also thinking the extension cable is faulty. It should be real interesting to get Best Buy to exchange it given that I've thrown away the packaging and don't have the receipt any more.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck. I need the extension. I have a total of 55' that I need to run the cable. And, I can't just use the extension cable from the antenna - the antenna requires a special connector that the extension alone doesn't provide.
The next step would be to disconnect everything and go back into the attic and set everything up there and test it for a while. Setting up in the attic wouldn't allow me to connect it into my stereo, however (no RCA cables long enough - 50'). But, that would eliminate the extension. If I still have a faulty signal it could be one of two things: the base or the antenna.
I just wish there was a sure way to troubleshoot this. I don't have the flexability to move components around (that'* why I bought the extension!!) :?

1: go to bestbuy and buy another extension cable, the same brand and model.
2: get home, install the new extension in place of the old one.
3: return old cable in new pacakaging for a full refund. Say no to an exchange.
You can test before or after 3 if you want
or if you paid by credit card then they can look it up.
I actually suspect its your home kit, heating up or overheating. If the antenna doesn't resolve the issure, try pointing a fan at the homekit and see if it takes longer to cut out.

I also have a Sirius radio and decided to use it indoors, so I went and bought a home kit from Ebay, ( person, not a online store), and I know I am supposed to use the antenna outdoors, but for testing I put it directly at the window and it was cutting in and out, so I actually moved that antenna to the middle of the room and I got nearly full reception. I then moved the unit out to building I do all my work in and since it has a steel roof I put the antenna outdoors just to get reception.
To me it sounds like the extension may be causing the problems. Have you tried to run the antenna just outside the window of the room you have it installed it just for testing?

As for running the feed directly from the PC, that'* a good idea, but the PC is in the office, downstairs. It'* just not feasible.
