Battery operated and have a manual overide if you have your key.

I've never taken my keys to my house, but I've tried to unlock mom'* Chrysler with my key fob.

No, it'* a case of not paying attention repeatedly I sometimes try to use the office key instead of my house key but they at least look similar.

Biometrics is a really cool development ....I did some research on it last year regarding usage in airports & casinos... I'm sure one day, it will be as common for home security as the keyless entry is for cars.
