Default Why are used enclosed trailers so pricey

Need a used enclosed trailer, preferably 20-28 feet in length, simply to store furniture. I would like to purchase used and have been watching Ebay and Craigslist. What I found is that new trailers picked up from the factory in Elkhart, IN area often cheaper than used trailers. I also want to note that every used trailer I called on in Craigslist was still available but the seller was firm on their price.

Why do sellers think used trailers maintain their value??? I want to buy used, but not a new or near new price.

The trailer Market is a funny one...

I pick up a new trailer every 5 or 6 months.

My local dealer always has 3 or 4 of the same most popular sizes and they can range in price almost 1500.00. This is the same trailer, Color,Size everything. It all depends on the Date of Manufacture ! What steel and fuel were worth at the time plays a huge roll in the trailers Value!

So with used it shows as well !
If 2 guys picked up identical trailers but one guy paid 2000.00 more, in the end he will base his for sale price on what he paid !
\
What are you looking for in an trailer, I might be able to help you out !

Thanks for the comments. Looking for a 20 to 28 foot trailer that I can store furniture in. We eneded up with two homes and can't sell one of them after 3 years on the market, so we are renting it. We will store the furniture and all in the trailer and when the renters leave, put the furniture back in the house to stage it.

I prefer a trailer with a rear ramp door, but am flexible. Also would like a height taller than standard but not necessary. I will be pulling the trailer with a 2007 SWB F-350 RWD with a 5.7 L gas engine.

Thanks,

Mike

The price will also be reflected by what people are willing to pay. If there are only a few on the market, the price will be higher. If there happen to be 20 selling at the same time, the price will drop.

Thanks for posting those links. In Elkhart Indiana they will sell a 8x24 car hauler new for $3600, with dexter torsion axles. This why I am struggling with the price of used. I have searched Craigslist up to 400 miles away. Every trailer I called about was still available, yet the prices were not competitive with new. I know the new ones may not have all the features or even the same quality, but a new trailer with good axles should not be cheaper than a 10 year old trailer stored outside even if it has nicer parts.

I just put an add on craigslist trying to barter my F150 for a trailer.
