Default How often do you lube your vehicle

How often do you lube your vehicle? The quickie lubes and the dealers claim to, but I have discovered they miss over 90% of the points, if they hit them at all. On my Bravada the front chassis has 13 major lube points, which require the tires to be removed and different fittings to get the gun fitting in place, along with turning the wheel left and then right to get the points. Takes about 90 minutes from jacking up the vehicle and taking off tires, turning wheels, etc. The Bravada line along with the Blazer are known for front end problems to include ball joints failing often. I suspect the inability to quickly lube may be a major failure of the front end component failures on GM vehicles like the Bravada/ Blazer.

I lube mine twice a year, each time I change my tires.

I think I do mine every 6000 miles, although on my S10 I use synthetic grease which supposedly can go for longer. Might start using it on my Buick too, but with only four points it'* less of a pain.

By the way, I completely agree with you about the S10/Blazer'* premature failure of components due to lack of lubrication. I've been religious about mine since I got it because I knew about it and my steering is TIGHT. No play whatsoever, like a brand new truck. I don't know when they generally fail but I'm at 70k now.

Also, it only takes me about 20-30 mins to lube my truck, I don't have to remove the tires, and I hit all 11 (mine has only 11) grease fittings. It just takes some creative and very messy acrobatics. :P

Yes, we do have lube points. Look anywhere in your suspension for zerk fittings.

Here'* an idea of where to find them on our cars. Ignore the fact that this is a jeep thing...

Ummmm, Bonnevilles haven't had a drag link in years. LOL! GXP fittings are sealed. I do my truck like Dan. Twice a year with the tires. Most modern air powered grease guns have a multiple swivel link ends. The friend'* garage I do all my work at has one. It hit'* 99% of fittings without doing anything more than flopping things around. But even if I stay home, I rather get my manual one out with the flexible hose and do it right then pay the ridiculous prices they charge for a lube.

I also worry about the fact they if they don't forget to grease, they are prone to blowing the grease cups off their seat, or split them. So the grease just runs out, and water invades.

GXP,

Are you saying you are not supposed to grease until the old grease falls on the floor? Guess I may have been doing it wrong for many years....
