At this shop my buddy'* dad is buying for us, there is a #'* matching 426 Hemi in running condition with the factory trans mounted to it. I think it'* a low mile motor and trans too.......But just ball park figure, how much could this be worth??? The trans is an auto by the way, I think it'* a 727 Torque - Flight?

I think he just means the motor... If it'* just the motor, then the #'* matching doesn't mean ****. The casting/machining numbers on the block can only match the car that the motor came in. If the motor is only "running", it might be worth upwards of $1,500-2,000 depending on how everything looks. If it was recently rebuilt, or better yet blue-printed, and the owner of the motor found the right person, it could be worth as much as $10,000, but you'd have to find the right person (aka someone looking for that exact casting number for a concourse resortation.

There'* two 70-71 I think Cutlass 4-4-2 Convertables up there that I'm gonna try and finish for the cruise, and then maybe sell it and do something with the hemi....Anyone know what tranny'* they put behind them? If I keep the motor I'm gonna try find a Charger to put it in.

Yup, the 426 got the 727 Torqueflight -trusty tranny from my experience'* with them (1978 Dodge Diplomat with a 360/4brl, 1969 Plymouth Fury with a 383/4brl, and a 1988 Dodge Ram Van with 250K+ on the original 318FI and HD 727).

As for the value of that Hemi, as was stated -buyer'* desire, running condition, and detail are factors. Also, what year is it from? I believe the earlier 426'* are slightly more valueable. You might find a forum on-line dedicated to the old Mopar Muscle cars and see what they have to say -the experts that is, not the guys wanting to rip you off for $500 for it.

I believe the motor is a 69.....Not sure though....But I'm not stupid....trust me no one'* rip'n this baby off of me for $500 bux.....Wonder how much blue printing and rebuilding it would cost?

Hemi rebuilds aren't cheap -ask my dad since he'* rebuilt 3 early Hemi'* (331 CID'* from 1953 and 1954 Chrysler'*). And the 426 is even more costly to rebuild. I don't know what all was replaced in the rebuilds, but I know my dad replaced the rings, all the bearings, ground the crank, bored the cylinders, all the valves and rocker arms, and he had over $2k invested in parts alone for that particular rebuild.

Well that will definantly dent the pocket book....but for a motor like this.....would definantly pay for itself when the right persona came along.

the right person that would come along would rather it be stock so that they could build it there way !!!
