gun guys
i was given a gun that was my grandpas and when he passed away my dad got it and my dad passed away last month and i got it now and i dont know much about guns just the basics but this gun seems kinda cool. well its a o.f. mossburg model 185k 20 gauge bolt action. i cant find alot about it online but what i found is that it was made back in 1950 and it cost 29.00 lol so whats its worth now and is it any good? not looking to sell just wondering. and where can i find parts for it? i think it should have a clip.

If I knew where my Blue Book of Gun Values was I'd be able to tell you what it'* worth. I'm not sure on the older guns but nowadays Mossberg is somewhat of an entry level gun. Not very expensive but they seem to work fine. I think a bolt action 20GA is pretty unique though.

my brother says it is probably only worth about $80-$100. There were tons of them made.
On the other hand, they're a nice little shotgun. Parts should be available at www.e-gunparts.com.
Does it have the Speedy Choke on the barrel?
BTW, if you're used to a 12ga, you're in for a surprise. 20ga actually kicks harder than 12ga...20ga tend to be much lighter guns, usually meant for ladies or youth.
My Grandmother'* 20ga Fox Sterlingworth side-by-side kicks like a bastard, but I'd take it deer hunting over a 12ga any day. Beautiful gun, amazingly accurate.

[offtopic]Grandma and Grandpa had four cats at all times...all show-line culls, and very much inside cats...although, I think Abby would have been a hell of a hunter. She left her left upper canine inside Rufous...anyway, I NEVER saw Grandma miss with that little pellet gun. I have it now, and it'* a beast as far as air-guns go. rated for 400fps, but the guys I've talked to all agree that 800fps is more realistic at max pressure...[/offtopic]

Gun trader ( its like Blue book on Guns lol) says
NIB- $156
Excellent condition =$129
Good= $91
it is the same as the Model 185d except has variable C-lect-Choke instead of interchangeable Choke tubes.... And they were made from 1950- 1963
All in all the other round figure was about right. I would suggest making sure you clean it and oil it and get it nice for storing. Oh and BTW I am a Gun Girl... not Guy, but I'm answering the question for ya anyways lol
