Default Cadillac Catera

Does anyone have any experience woking on Cadillac Catera? My grandfather(80) is having a few problems and is tired of paying the dealer to take care of things. Right now the Check Engine light is active and the code its giving out is for the CamShaft Position Sensor Bank 1. Anyone who could help or steer me to a site that can would be appreciated.

well until someone with more specific experience can chime in, id say since it apparently has a different cam sensor for each bank then check the resistance on the sensors make sure theyre similar, if one is way off then you have a problem with the sensor, i hear the catera were real lemons

Well, I agree its a horrible little car. Never worked right since the day it was new. 6 recalls and 17 trips to the dealer in the first three years. Its a 2000 Catera. The Camshaft Sensor is only the newest screwup. But my grandfather is afraid to drive it till it gets fixed. The sensor itself is $190.00!

Yeah it'* not fun owning a RWD rebadged german car. Parts cost as much as the BMW parts cost. Good luck!
