allright im on my first build...i scrapped some parts together from various sources just to see if it would even run...just for kicks ya know? the only problem is i have no video display whatsoever...i turn the power on, the fans come on, i can hear the hard drive running, Cd-rom drive works and everything, i just have no video output at all, and i dont know why, i have a card in my AGP slot and you would think it would be able to display something..but no such luck, what am i doing wrong.....here are the specs that i have hooked up right now

1.8 Celeron processor(stolen from my Dell)
128mb DDR PC-2100 i think
80gb SATA hard drive
ECS mobo

any advice or suggestions would be helpful

is the memory compatible?

Sounds not like a display issue, but more of the mobo not even going into the BIOS.

Part of that could definatly be the memory. PC2100, sounds like DDR ram to me.. and I don't think DDR and Celerons mix.. but then again i'm an AMD guy, and Intel'* aren't me specialty, so you will want someone else to confirm that.

If you can give me the model number for that motherboard, I can do some research on it, to find if that RAM is compatable, and if it isn't, which ram would be.

I have done it before where by plugging in the IDE cable on your Hard drive or even cd drive in teh wrong direction will cause this issue. Yes it is possible to do it, not on all computers but it is still possible.

by all accounts the memory should be compatible its PC2100 which runs at 226 mhz which my mobo supports...this is my mobo http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...135-152&depa=0

and it says it supports Celeron processors, but i see that the 1.8 ghz Celeron is a completely different core than a Pentium 4, P4 is either Northwood or Prescott, which my mobo supports because it says Prescott right on the box, and the reviews mention a Northwood, so obviously those work..but the Celeron is a Willamette....could this be my problem?

so any other ideas as to whats going on? and its not the IDE cable thats messing it up, cause i installed them correctly and my HD is SATA anyway.

if your celeron is pentium 3 based it would be a pga 370...the stats for that motherboard say it it socket 478. i'd say it is a memory issue...maybe not the type but it could be in the wrong slot...i have 3 slots and if I don't put a memory stick in slot 1 then slot 2 and 3 are useless. Also if your Mobo has a bus selector jumper that could be it too...you may have a 400 FSB celeron and it'* set to 533 FSB or visa versa. I know the two celeron boards i had were like that. Hope you find it man.

whoops you posted while i was editing. there are no jumpers, thankfully theres only about 2 jumpers on the whole board, and they have nothing to do with that, its supposed to figure it out automatically, and the RAM is in the farthest slot to the left, which would be bank 1 i beliebe, or bank 0, either way it should work...im kinda thinking now that since the Celeron doesnt have a P4 core is why its messing up....but i could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time

Does the monitor work when its plugged into the onboard card?

there is no onboard video, i think that this board requires a P4 with either a Northwood or Prescott core, or a Celeron with the same....which wouldnt ya know the only Celeron that doesnt have a P4 core is the 1.8...i hate gettin screwed! but that would seem to make sense to me anyway....

Take the CPU out, I have had systems that go through the BIOS without one. Mind you, that was back in the day, with Pentium Pro systems, which were about as powerful as the original Apple PDA compared to an AMD 64 processor equiped system.
