The only thing I know about cameras is that more megapixles does NOT mean a better picture

Some negatives I scanned from when I first started with film and this camera a couple years ago: http://www.2759.ca/galfiles/gr11

They say that good quality 35mm film, with good quality lenses and sharp focus, equals about 12 megapixels. So many variables can affect it, though...

Megapixels can help create a better picture in the fact that you can resize pics down from a really big stock photo and post them on things like forums or blogs. But sharpness and colour quality are things completely independent from megapixels

(slightly back on topic): For now, because I cannot afford to go to the digital SLR route, I got myself a decent (Canon CanoScan 4200F) scanner yesterday, the above pics were scanned with it, and it has a 35mm/slide negative carrier on it too.
