Cleanup and a Crash..
Left for work this morning and it was really nice out so i washed the car
Then got to work, and a few hours later it began snowing.. thought nothing of it just typical michigan being stupid and unpredictable.. then it began slushing..
Well anyway on my way home it was really bad.. i got out at 10:30pm and it was horrible couldnt go over 30-40 without fishtailing.. i got 2/3 of the way home and suddenly i hit a blob of slush at 30 mph and started fishtailing.. tried to straighten it out but it just wasnt going to happen so i just let it go.. i did a 180 and went sideways into the ditch which luckily wasnt a real deep one.. as i went sideways and finally stopped i nearly rolled onto my side... the car slammed back down and that point is the only part of it that scared me because i was thinking about my subwoofers, gas tank and oil pan.. now pissed off i get out of the car its about 11:30pm now and i check it out everything seemed fine on the outside.. i looked in the trunk horrified at what i might find (tool box puncturing a subwoofer) but no it looked fine just moved around a little, and the battery wire was pulled out of place on the amp. I called my dad and let him know and he sent my mom out to find me (which was a bad idea because shes not good in these situations and likes to the "i told you so" at me instead of helping.) I called the tow truck and he got me out and gipped me.. at first he said $50 and then i showed him my insurance which covers up to $75 and hes like yea lets just do $80 so hes gonna get a call tomorrow about that **** considering i was wayyyyy to pissed off to even give a **** about anything at this point. i drove home with my mom in the silverado behind me car ran and drove fine.. love that thing its a tank when it comes to situations like this. Going to wake up early tomorrow and fix up my amp and get all the mud and sod out of my car and do some phonecalls. Never a fun thing to have to do before work. Anyway that was my day, hope you enjoyed it.

Personally, I'd rather fishtail, since you can countersteer, but then I grew up with RWD. Getting used to FWD in the snow here in NY was a pain.

with decent tires fwd is better than rwd you just have to get used to a careful application of throttle and the back will come right in line

I also had a 73 Electra with a Buick 455, also very not stock, through a few winters and would still rather drive that. Its a lot easier to induce a drift and countersteer through it, than it is to judge a corner and "Scandinavian Flick" it through.
As far as in town, flat roads, no hills, only moderate corners, and slower speeds, FWD might hold out, simply because the weight of the car is over the drive wheels.
But see, I live where there are a lot of hills, country roads, and twisty corners. Weight transfer kills FWD, and its where people have the most problems. FWD cars transfer weight to the rear, and can't climb the hills. Or you fishtail going downhill, because your braking and turning are done on the front tires, and rear steps out. People going downhill in a FWD aren't going to apply more throttle, typically they panic and keep trying to get on the brakes, which transfers more weight off the back, and the car comes around on them. Besides bad tires or bad suspension setup, that'* the only way I can think of to get a FWD car to fishtail without doing it on purpose.
